Barb's knees #6

Hello again. Hank here.

Well, it’s been a pretty exciting day for me. I learned how to turn the clock radio alarm on. It was set for 5:00 a.m. and Big HM couldn’t figure out how to stop it! You should have seen it! I laughed so hard I almost needed stitches! I was going to try to turn on the radio part tonight but somehow, it got unplugged. I’m sure Big HM will fix that when he sees it.

The second thing is: I created a new game! I call it “Xtreme Rodeo”. (Note the spelling; that will be good for marketing purposes.) The object is to run along the back of the sofa and then, using a Hairless Monkey’s head for a springboard, launch yourself to the next piece of furniture. Talk about a rush! You can’t estimate the position of HM’s head at point of contact because it moves all over the place; and it’s tough to concentrate on your landing spot with all that yelling going on but let me tell you, it’s worth it! If only I had some catnip, it would be like Olympic snowboarding!

There is one drawback though: DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS TWICE IN THE SAME DAY! It could mean an immediate banishment to the laundry room for a ‘time-out’. And that’s the voice of experience speaking. I suggest spending the rest of day playing ‘push-stuff-off-the-counter’ or any other ‘low-risk’ game. If your HM is fast, try waiting at least 20 minutes between sporting venues.

Little HM is now at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She’s in Room 320(4). She had a good ride over from TB Regional and the attending nurse gave her a hug and said she was a good patient. She also saw the surgeon today. He told her that her left leg was so bad he considered postponing doing the other leg as it was exhausting for him. We’re so glad he finished. He also said she’s doing phenomenal and her blood count is back up too.

There’s a small bonus at St. Joe’s too: TV is free! That should offset the extra taxi fare Big HM has to pay to visit her.

Well, I have to get going now because Big HM is coming to use the computer … and if he sees I can type he’ll start asking for all kinds of things. And then I'll never get a moment's peace!

Wow, your new game sounds rough...I made to make sure that my Siamese do not hear about- but maybe they are to busy trying to catch the fish in the aquarium or trying to free the parakeets from their cage- to take on a new game! LOL!

Glad to hear that Barb is doing well!
Free TV is a huge bonus! Give her a hug from me :)

You are a hoot and you gave me a good laugh today. I can just imagine the yelling as your spring board technique was applied to Big HM's beanie.
Good to hear that Barb is now in her second phase of recovery. Can't wait to hear from her again
soon.

My 97 lb. chocolate lab, Bentley, was reading over my shoulder. (He won't be doing that again anytime soon)! He attempted your Xtreme Rodeo stunt and succeeded to knock over a lamp, an end table and take down a mini blind from the window behind the sofa. Needless to say - no laundry room for him - he is becoming acquainted with the garage - and its chilly out there!

I'm so happy that Barb has been moved. Do send her a hug from me.

Hey Hank! Great job reporting the news and sports! Jennifer is so happy to learn of little HM's continued and steady healing and that she is now settled in to the new kennel...or is it a cat house? What do HM's call their digs?

Oh! OH! Renoir and Merlin tried out your Olympic feat but with a twist. I (Tango) do not indulge in sporting events. Anyway, they went across the back of the chair as you suggested catching the attention of BOTH canines. Well, when the canines tried to get the them, Merl and Renoir jumped on top of the dog kennel/crate/cage. These dogs are not very bright and BOTH went into the kennel at the same time (and we are talking a sum-total of close to 250 pounds of dog flesh in one crate. If I hadn't been laughing so hard I'd have kicked the kennel door closed. Those dumb dogs. They thought they could get Merl and Renoir (who were on top of the kennel by going inside.) Woo hooo...I laughed so hard I had to take a nap.

Try to be nice to big HM. He sounds like a decent hairless monkey as they go, ya know! Plus he holds the can opener to the tuna so...just be nice.

Looking forward to hearing more about little HM's progress.

Whoa! If Sneaker (my cat) tried your new event, he'd be in his cage after the first trial. From your perspective, though, I'm sure it was a real rush. So glad that Barb made it over to the other hospital; free TV! She can check out crafting stations between her workouts. Hugs and happy Tuesday.

I am still laughing! Hank you are too funny! Warm fuzzy hugs to Barb. Sounds like big HM might need a helmut with you around. ;)

Wow, my stomach hurts from laughing so hard. You guys have got to stop all this nonsense before a split a gut. LOL

Glad to hear that Barb is doing so well. I'm so glad that the doc found the stamina to finish up both legs as I wouldn't want to see her go through it all again. Tell Barb we love and miss her. Can't wait until she's back at the Shack but in the meantime, we are thinking about her.

Hank, you are such a clever kitty! Making up all those games and turning on the alarm. I am very impressed. Oscar (the cat) is here with me right now and I had to cover his eyes so he didn't get any ideas from reading your story.
