Bingo and More!

Before we get back into the Bingo numbers, of which there will be 11 today, just a short version of what Scrapfest was like. You can see pictures if you visit this link to the Stamp Shack. You don't have to be a member, the pics are on the home page for all to see. If ever you get the opportunity to go to something like this, take it and make sure you take friends with you!

Archivers at the Mall of America organizes this event every year and it's ALWAYS the weekend after Labour Day. They arrange for some of the major companies we all know and love to prepare and give classes. Because this was my first year attending, I only signed up for three classes. I ended up taking four because one of the Shackies became ill and gave away her classes. Lets all send lots of hugs and good wishes to Chelsea a.k.a. spredbirds for a speedy recovery. My first class was a Ranger class entitled Windows to the Past and the presenter was none other than Tim Holtz. I made a small album for collecting little bits and pieces. Here is a picture of the completed album. That was on Friday. Firday evening I attended a special crop presented by Paper Salon. They provided dinner, dessert, free goodies and lots of prizes were drawn. The top prize of the evening was a basket worth $400 of crafting supplies. Unfortunately, I didn't win (pouty face here). On Saturday, I decorated a tin box to hold cards, recipies or whatever you want to put in it. The class was called Not-So-Basic by Basic Grey. The presenter was fabulous, but her name escapes me and I'm sorry about that. I do believe she is on the design team at BG though. Here's a picture of my finished tin. I'm going to make some changes because I don't think the word 'cards' stands out enough. Each class is only 45 minutes in length and you work at top speed. If you miss an instruction, you're lost. I'm sure there will be lots of ladies re-doing some of those projects, but at least we'll have half a clue what it SHOULD look like. LOL! My bonus class because of Chelsea's illness was another Tim Holtz class and it was called, Tiny Mosaic Tin. Here I decorated another tin box, but this time we used a new product called Fragments (sorry, not available until October, ladies). We applied a small amount of Glossy Accents to the acrylic fragment and smacked it down onto a piece of 12 x 12 paper. Tim, as I like to call him, favours Cosmo Cricket. Lay it down in any fashion, let it bond, then cut out the pieces. Next, add more Glossy Accents and stick it on the tin. Easy, peasy! And beautiful, too! This pic shows how the little album fits perfectly into the Tiny Mosaic Tin.

Sunday's class, and my last one, was a Karen Foster class to make a calendar. There were a few problems with this class as we didn't have all the supplies necessary to make the calendar. It would have been okay had the presenter, Sam, started out saying that due to a mix up, this error had occured. Instead, we were left floundering around looking for something we would never find and, as a result, missed several steps. However, it ended okay and we can finish the calendar at home, I guess.

While these classes were great, the very best part was meeting ladies I had only previously known via The Stamp Shack, and only online. So my cyber friends became real friends and that is just the best part of the whole weekend. I'm sure as days go by, I'll think of other little tidbits and post them here, but now, on with the Bingo numbers.
