Announcement about Bingo

Hi Ladies,

There were so many submissions for extra numbers that, in order to be absolutely fair, I will NOT post the numbers for Monday, Oct. 1st until 12 noon, EST. This will give all players, in all time zones, an equal opportunity.

I haven't checked yet, but I'm sure there will be one or two BINGO(s) called today and the first to call it, will be the winner, after verification.

Good Luck to All!

Awww, Gee, Thanks So Much!

Isn't this just the cutest thing? Thanks so much to Shannon of Stamp Till You Cramp! for nominating me for this very special award. You're sweet to think of me, Shannon and I will display this proudly.

And now, I will nominate the following for the BBF award:

Rhi
Jennifer
Elizebeth

I wonder who they will nominate.

It's Friday -- YIPPEE!

For some reason, this week seems to have been really slow. I don't know why, it just has felt that way, so I'm really glad it's Friday. The weekend promises to be pleasant, weatherwise, and I'm hoping to take a little drive to enjoy the Autumn colours. We'll see how that goes. Now it's time to play Bingo. Are you ready....?

I'm helping out, again!

I made three cards today for various challenges so that I can help increase the Bingo numbers. I'm posting early because I'm taking DH to a doctor's appointment early in the morning.

Sketches! (by Tamara}

This card is for Tamara's Recipe Challenge #4, which you can see on her blog linked above. I went for a very minimalist look here, not my usual style, but I still like it. Of course, the recipe dictated the basic card and I just stuck with the basics. Thanks to Tamara for this challenge. The card base is a lime green, probably from Ms paper pack. The pink is Pixie Pink by SU. I stamped the image on white from PTI (love that cardstock). This little tree is from Hero Arts Clear Stamps for Christmas this year. I added the velvety rick-rack, also from Ms and some Stickles for the glitter factor.

CC133 and SC143

This card actually fulfills the requirements for the two challenges at SCS for the Color Combination and the Card Sketch. You can see the details at the link above.

The colours of Old Olive, More Mustard and Bashful Blue actually go quite well together, I thought. The sweating turkey is by Hambo Stamps, the green ribbon is from Archivers at MOA. The sentiment I made up using Doodlebug Designs 'Simply Sweet' rub-on letters and is attached with eyelets set using my Karen Foster Scrapatus (another fave tool). I added the black glitter yarn for a bit of 'pop' and it worked.

Penguin Christmas

This card wasn't for any challenge, I just was dying to use this Penguin paper by Creative Imaginations. I started with a card base of Real Red, added the pp. I stamped this baby penguin (DH says it's a chick, but I want it to be a penguin, so it is) on plain white c/s, coloured it with Prismacolor Markers. It's from the Carolyn King Collection by Gina K. Designs. I then added some white Fun Flock to make it look real fluffy and mounted it on some green Bazzill cardstock which I cut using my Giga Scalloped Oval punch. Then came the red sheer ribbon and it was done.

Now on to Thursday's Bingo numbers.

This is painfully slow!

Blogger's website is driving me mad with its slowness today. I've been trying to get this entry done for the past 1.5 hours. Anyhoo, here are today's numbers. BTW, Tami made 10 ATC's, but I only gave out four numbers, so today I will give out six more numbers for those ATC's. Thanks, Tami, for bringing that to my attention.

I'm going to lend a hand today, too!

This is my entry for the Mojo Monday, Week 4 Challenge at Poetic Artistry. Julee runs great challenges and, because this is the final round, I would also like to, once again, give credit for this Bingo game to her. I played Bingo earlier in the summer when Julee ran the game and enjoyed it so much, I wanted to host one. All the rules and ideas were most definitely Julee's and I just want to say thank you to her for her graciousness in allowing me to be a 'copycat'. Thanks, Julee, I appreciate it.

Now, on to the Bingo numbers for today.

Do visit Angel's blog as I noted that it is fairly new and looks beautiful.

And, have you heard the big news from EmmaBella, Gina K. and Nichole. They're planning a Stamp & Cruise and would like us all to join them. If there is any way I can do this, I would certainly love to. I have met Emily of Stamping Bella in person last February and she is a hoot! I'm sure travelling with her would be just a shipload of fun. Are there any Bingo players here that are hoping and/or planning to attend? I would love to be part of the first 100 people to register and get what I'm sure will be a fabulous gift from each of these very talented ladies.

I know from my sister that Royal Caribbean is a wonderful cruise line. In fact, that is the only cruise line Shirley will sail with now. Maybe she'll let be borrow her Crown & Anchor number! Just kidding, I wouldn't do that.

Okay, that's it for today. See you tomorrow.

Fifth and Final Round of Bingo

Ladies, this is our last game of Bingo and you will need a full card, or a blackout, as I also heard it described, to win this fabulous prize.

Truly, you ladies have been busy creating cards for all sorts of challenges. Is it possible that someone gets a full card right off the bat?

The Basic Grey paper pad was a specially created paper pack just for Archivers for the Scrapfest. For some reason, I ended up with two and decided to share with you ladies. So, I do believe we are going to start this round with 26 numbers. YIPPEE SKIPPY!

Are you ready? Let's play BINGO.

I've been busy creating...

Here are some of my cards I've made since Friday. Hopefully, I'll be doing more today, as I've got my dinner going in the slow-cooker and my laundry is almost complete and it's only 10:30 a.m. The day is off to a great start.

Stamp Shack Theme1 Challenge

My recent purchase of the Carolyn King Collection from The Stamping Freak had me just itching to ink up those stamps. This image of the little boy is just adorable. When The Stamp Shack's creative team listed their first theme challenge of people and/or places, I just knew which one to use. I call this "A Little Boy and His Dog at the Playground". The base is River Rock, to which I layered some Mellow pp from the Basic Grey collection. The image is stamped on white c/s from PTI and mounted on a piece of Really Rust. Prismacolor Markers were used to colour the image and I added some Stickles to the puddle and rain drops. Then I added the River Rock ribbon and some dog bone eyelets. The eyelets were attached using my new Karen Foster Scrapatus, an absolutely fabulous tool.

Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge - WSC20

This is my entry for WSC20. I did a lot of machine-stitching on this card simply because I love the look of it. The base is just white cardstock on which I sponged the edges with Close to Cocoa. The patterned paper is from Basic Grey's Infuse collection. They're gorgeous papers, but I don't think I have the knack that some creators out there do for putting different papers together. The flowers are by Bazzill Wings and Prima and the square brads are from MM. The sentiment is from PTI's Green Thumb set and the tag is a Martha Stewart tag. I think the next time I try to use patterned papers as the main focus, I'll use a matching cardstock base as I really don't like the white showing. Live and learn, that's my motto!

Ways To Use It Challenge - WT132

This challenge was to use basic gray, just the colour, not the Basic Grey we all know and love. I chose a shimmery gray/silver cardstock for the base. I made the card to fit in a business-sized envelope because the "Believe" stamp just won't fit on a regular A2 card, at least not easily. I stamped it along the bottom in Brilliance White, then chose Brilliance Blue and stamped it in an off-set manner. I quite like the look of it. Then I used TAC Snowy Swirls and stamped three snowmen along the top, again double-stamping the middle snowman. Added some snowflake brads and there you have it.

For this card I kept it very simple. I started with a Shimmery Blue base, stamped the Hero Arts Christmas Tree with VersaMark ink, heat set it with silver embossing powder and mounted it onto a piece of Shimmery Silver c/s, then added some silver curly ribbon which I picked up at the $$$ store. I love this stamp because it can be used in so many ways and it always looks great!

Happy Fall, Y'All

Today is the first day of Fall/Autumn. Everybody ready for it? I love the crispness in the air, the beautiful blue skies, the smell of a wood-burning fire. All these things make me happy. I would like it to stay Fall until next March, then start with Spring and Summer, so three seasons a year would be fantastic. But, that's just me.

Well, we had a Bingo winner yesterday. Congrats to Pattyjo, you lucky lady, you! Someone also wanted me to go over what challenges are available so that you can submit cards.

Just to refresh your minds about all the different ways to get extra numbers for Bingo, here are the sketchs you can use:

I'd like to remind you all that these sketches were created by Kerry Urbach and you can check out her blog here. Thanks, Kerry, for letting me use your great sketches.

As well as these sketches, you can make cards using any design using the SU 2007 In-Colours and any cards using food images. Or, you can make any combination thereof. I also added that if you enter any challenges on any board or other blog, they would also be good for an extra number. Just post in the comments with a link to your creations.

So there you have it, all the ways to boost the numbers called on a daily basis. We will begin the 5th and Final round on Monday and it will be for a full card, or blackout card, as I've heard it called.

See you Monday and have a great weekend!

WE HAVE A WINNER

It's official, I've checked the records and yes, ladies, Pattyjo has a BINGO!

Congratulations to Pattyjo!

This is your prize and all I need is your home address. Please send me an e-mail and I'll put it in the mail tomorrow.

This means that we are now starting on the Final Round of Bingo. The winner will need a FULL card to win. Because it's going to be a full card, I think we should take the weekend and make cards to submit for extra numbers. Believe me, we're going to need all the help we can get. So, start creating and post them here and Monday we'll begin Round 5. I'm exhausted from the tension of this round and could use the break.

So, back on Monday with Bingo numbers. If you need your card re-sent to you, please let me know. Have a great, crafty weekend!

Lots of Numbers for Today

Thanks so much, ladies, for sending and/or posting the links to cards you've made. It really does help in getting the numbers up each day. Here we go:

My Challenge Day

Holy moly! I did two cards that count for three challenges. So far for tomorrow, we have six numbers already!

This first card was made for Mojo Monday, Week 3, which is posted on Poetic Artistry. I am happy to participate and when this card was finished, I knew exactly what I would do with it. I'm sending it to.........., oh wait, if I say here, it won't be a surprise when she gets it. Oh well, that person will just have to wait! I did try something new to me on this card. I squeezed the ink pads and got a little colour in the lid, then used a brush to colour the train with Groovy Guava for the engine, Soft Sky for the caboose. The flatbed I coloured with Tombow markers. I rather like having the colours match the papers!
Cardstock: Sage Shadow, Bashful Blue, Groovy Guava
Stamps: Hambo Engine, Flatbed, Caboose
Inks: Groovy Guava, Bashful Blue, Wild Wasabi
Accessories: Karen Foster Doggie brad, MM button brads, M's ribbon

This card is good for two challenges at SCS. It's good for CS142 and CC132.

The colours we were required to use for CC132 were River Rock, Chocolate Chip and Really Rust. It didn't sound too good, but when you put them all together, it is quite striking. I just love this little dog with the bird on his head and I adore using my new Fun Flock on animals. This time I didn't fill him in completely and I think it gives the dog a two-colour look. I may send this to one of my grandsons. I'll either have to make an identical card or flip a coin. I'm very anal about trying to keep things even. It drives my DH nuts, but that's what my Mom did with her grandkids and I guess I just grew up seeing that and am following in her traditions.

Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Really Rust, River Rock, Very Vanilla
Stamps: Carolyn King Collection by Gina K Designs, Polka Dots & Paisley
Inks: Pallette Hybrid Black, ColorBox Chalk-Rust
Accessories: SU Earth Elements brads

Here's a Holiday Planner I made yesterday. I started by using a Creative Memories Photo Card that was left over from my days as a DM consultant. It's about three years old now and the design of the photo card has changed, just in case you're going to go look for one now. I chose two new Christmas papers by Doodlebug Designs. The card size is 5" wide by 7" tall, so the pp was cut to 4-3/4" x 6-3/4", then cut in half. By cutting them in half, I was able to alternate the upper and lower half of the panels, as seen in the picture of the inside of the planner in the pic below. The lower half of each panel is a pocket so that you can stuff notes or whatever inside without fear of losing them.
I was able to use some of my new stuff purchased at MOA like the letters which is the Doodle Alphabet Perfectly Clear Stamps by Stampendous. The panel titled 'Food' has a couple of stamps on it from Hero Arts Clear Design Collector's Edition set. The December 2007 calendar on the first inside panel I made using MS Word. It's just a table and the font is CK Holiday Spirit. If you are not familiar with MS Word and want a copy, just send me an email and I'll be happy to send the document to you.
This is my first attempt at a Holiday Planner. I don't mind telling you I made a couple of goof-ups which will not be pointed out here, but they sure won't happen a second time. Learning is definitely a part of this craft.

And now for the Bingo numbers. Only two today, but I'm hoping to complete a couple of challenges later which will mean more numbers tomorrow.

A Bella and a Bingo Prize!

On Friday I had said I would post a picture of the prize for Round 4, the current round of Bingo. Here it is, finally. What we have here is a package of paper by DCWV, the Pocketful of Posies Matstack, some glittery Chipboard letters and a package of rub-ons. Now, whoever wins will know what to expect as their prize. Most of the items for this round and our next and final round were purchased at MOA.

I was supposed to be making Christmas presents today, but got a little sidetracked by Bella. She was calling and calling and I needed to find a reason to ink her up. I glanced through my birthday book and discovered I have a neice who will be having a birthday next month. Now this young woman hasn't had a card from me for many ayear, but now that I make my own, everybody in my family receives cards so that I can justify my addiction! Hope she likes it, but then, who wouldn't?

See you all tomorrow with lots of numbers for Bingo!

Did you know?

I don't know how I missed this, but I did! And, thanks to Charmaine over at Oodabug Alley, I have now been enlightened.

Months ago I paid my money and joined the Fan Club at SCS. I spend way too much time at the computer already, so I don't always check it out as diligently as I should because they have fabulous Dirty Girls' creations to admire and now have added monthly challenges too, in several different categories, I might add.

This card was made for the Dirty Lost and Found Sketch Challenge. There are other challenges for September, but this one was the easiest for me. I will work on the others, but it may take a while. Thank godness they are 'monthly'. I started with a Kraft cardstock base and pulled out my All About Christmas wheel which I just had to have and this is only the second time it's been inked. (Note to self: "Duh, c'mon Barb, use your stuff!") Then I added some scraps of the Christmas paper I've been using lately and now that it's all chopped up, I don't remember who makes it. Next, I stamped the pine branch and pine cones on some dotted paper, without masking first. I used my SU Ticket punch on the corners and mounted it onto Real Red c/s, also with punched corners. I did mask the "Peaceful Wishes" sentiment because I wanted the words on two lines instead of one. Then, out came the Giga Scalloped Oval punce by Marvy, then the oval cutter by CM. The little green flower is on the sentiment to cover up an ink mark from over-zealously stamping the word "Peaceful". The final touch were the brads from HOTP. And there you have it, another Christmas card.

Saturday, September 15, 2007

I've been having fun today.

I made this card for the Weekend Sketch Challenge 19 over on Beate's blog. My new stamps, papers and embellies were calling me and calling me and wouldn't be quiet until I went to my craft room to play with them. I have a feeling this Christmas tree stamp is going to play a huge part in my Christmas cards this year. It looks to be very flexible and will lend itself well to the heat-embossing technique. I see a blue base with a silver ep tree in my future!

Supplies: Real Red c/s, Doodlebug Designs pp, Hero Arts tree, PTI Faux Ribbon sentiment, HOTP brads and flowers, Icicle Stickles on star.

This card is for a challenge at The Stamp Shack. I am so not accustomed at doing collage style work. In fact, it's so far out of my comfor zone, I had to work at my neighbour's house. LOL! Take a look at the piece in the bottom left corner. That's using a new trick I learned at my Window's to the Past class with Tim Holtz when I was at Scrapfest last weekend. Those acrylic blocks are called "Fragments" and will be coming out all over in October. Ranger supplied Archivers at MOA with bunches of them just for Scrapfest. If you live in Minneapolis you can run get some quick. I wish I had gotten a couple of more packages now!

Supplies: Vintage Violet, Marigold Morning c/s, Inkadinkado script stamp, Karen Foster Designs buttons, Ranger Fragments, BG pp, $$ store glitter yarn.

Happy Birthday, Andrew!

I'm beginning this post with birthday wishes to my son, Andrew. He is 26 years old today. Have a terrific day and I'll talk to you tonight. I love you!

Okay, on with Bingo. We have five numbers today because I'm going to open up the challenges again. This time, if you enter any challenge, post a comment with a link to your card, telling us which challenge you entered. I made two cards for Poetic Artistry's Monday Mojo challenges last night. Here are my entries for Monday Mojo Weeks 1 and 2.

Next is a card I made using the colour combo of pink, brown and green. In this card, the middle flower is more a turquoise blue, leaning towards the green end. I know I'm stretching the rule an itzy-bit, but we need the numbers, ladies.

So, here are the numbers today:

Today, I will be choosing the prize for this round from some of the goodies I brought back from Scrapfest and MOA. You'll see the picture tomorrow.

Another little tidbit about Scrapfest. I may have mentioned that one of the classes I attended, the Karen Foster - Don't Forget class, had a few mishaps, one of them being not all the supplies were available and no one mentioned it at the beginning of the class. This resulted in a poor start and several unfinished calendars. Well, due to the amount of negative feedback about this class, Archivers passed it along to Karen Foster Designs Inc. and they will be sending everyone who attended that class the remaining supplies. Kudoos to Karen Foster Designs Inc. They really want to make it right and it wouldn't surprise me to see the entire set of supplies being sent, not just the missing ones. I'm very pleased about that and happy with Archivers with passing it back to the company sponsoring that class.

Here's a picture of all the free stuff I received from attending classes and just general make-and-takes that were going on in the MOA. Those make-and-takes were a lot of fun, but man, the lineups at some of them were impressive.

Wanna See My Stuff?

I went waaaayyy overboard at Scrapfest. Everytime I attended a class, I had to run to Archivers to buy the products used. Did you know this can get expensive? However, there are some things that are just not available to me locally so I indulged myself, several times, in fact. Here are a few pictures that show all my lovely new goodies. Alright, I CAN get paper locally, but I just had to have these.
And, yes, I'm a Basic Grey "freak".
Well, some of those brads I'd never seen before, living in Northern Ontario. So, I bought a few extras just to make sure I wouldn't run out!!

These are the last three pics. I made them smaller to save space, so just click on them for a larger view. I had only a couple of Halloween stamps, no Christmas verse stamps and, well, I just loved all the flowers and other goodies. Now I'm just tired, broke and happy!

On to Bingo now. Today we have only two numbers, ladies. Thank goodness Elizebeth is addicted to stamping.

G49 - Today's number

Oh, BTW, a couple of items you see in the above pics will be prizes for this round of Bingo and Round 5, too, when we need a full card. Are you all still having fun playing Bingo! I hope so.

Ladies, Elizebeth hurt her back! Check out her blog and let her know we care. She's out until the weekend, poor thing.

Bingo and More!

Before we get back into the Bingo numbers, of which there will be 11 today, just a short version of what Scrapfest was like. You can see pictures if you visit this link to the Stamp Shack. You don't have to be a member, the pics are on the home page for all to see. If ever you get the opportunity to go to something like this, take it and make sure you take friends with you!

Archivers at the Mall of America organizes this event every year and it's ALWAYS the weekend after Labour Day. They arrange for some of the major companies we all know and love to prepare and give classes. Because this was my first year attending, I only signed up for three classes. I ended up taking four because one of the Shackies became ill and gave away her classes. Lets all send lots of hugs and good wishes to Chelsea a.k.a. spredbirds for a speedy recovery. My first class was a Ranger class entitled Windows to the Past and the presenter was none other than Tim Holtz. I made a small album for collecting little bits and pieces. Here is a picture of the completed album. That was on Friday. Firday evening I attended a special crop presented by Paper Salon. They provided dinner, dessert, free goodies and lots of prizes were drawn. The top prize of the evening was a basket worth $400 of crafting supplies. Unfortunately, I didn't win (pouty face here). On Saturday, I decorated a tin box to hold cards, recipies or whatever you want to put in it. The class was called Not-So-Basic by Basic Grey. The presenter was fabulous, but her name escapes me and I'm sorry about that. I do believe she is on the design team at BG though. Here's a picture of my finished tin. I'm going to make some changes because I don't think the word 'cards' stands out enough. Each class is only 45 minutes in length and you work at top speed. If you miss an instruction, you're lost. I'm sure there will be lots of ladies re-doing some of those projects, but at least we'll have half a clue what it SHOULD look like. LOL! My bonus class because of Chelsea's illness was another Tim Holtz class and it was called, Tiny Mosaic Tin. Here I decorated another tin box, but this time we used a new product called Fragments (sorry, not available until October, ladies). We applied a small amount of Glossy Accents to the acrylic fragment and smacked it down onto a piece of 12 x 12 paper. Tim, as I like to call him, favours Cosmo Cricket. Lay it down in any fashion, let it bond, then cut out the pieces. Next, add more Glossy Accents and stick it on the tin. Easy, peasy! And beautiful, too! This pic shows how the little album fits perfectly into the Tiny Mosaic Tin.

Sunday's class, and my last one, was a Karen Foster class to make a calendar. There were a few problems with this class as we didn't have all the supplies necessary to make the calendar. It would have been okay had the presenter, Sam, started out saying that due to a mix up, this error had occured. Instead, we were left floundering around looking for something we would never find and, as a result, missed several steps. However, it ended okay and we can finish the calendar at home, I guess.

While these classes were great, the very best part was meeting ladies I had only previously known via The Stamp Shack, and only online. So my cyber friends became real friends and that is just the best part of the whole weekend. I'm sure as days go by, I'll think of other little tidbits and post them here, but now, on with the Bingo numbers.

I'm Baaaaacckkk!

What a blast I've had the past five days. I just got home a short while ago and I'm so tired from driving and having so much fun! I've got to catch up with DH about how things went while I was away, I'm going to take a snooze and then I'll share some of my experiences with you.

I just wanted to let you know that Bingo will resume tomorrow morning. I should be able to at least get organized for that!

See y'all later.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PHIL

Before we start today’s Bingo game, I want to wish my son, Phil, the happiest birthday ever! He is all of 24 years old today and I'm so proud of him. He is the daddy of Jackson whose picture you can see in an earlier post. He's the little fellow with the 'do-rag' on his head! Phil, here's lots of hugs and kisses for you and I wish I was there sharing your birthday with you!

Okay, here we go, on with the Bingo!

Well, I sure hope everybody got at least one number today, because it's going to have to tide you over for a bit. I am leaving tomorrow for Scrapfest at Mall of America in Minneapolis, MN. Once there, I will be meeting up with 16 other ladies who are members of The Stamp Shack. We are going to have a blast! While I'm taking a ton of crafting stuff with me, I will not be taking my Bingo file, unfortunately. Bingo numbers will resume on Wednesday, Sep 12th. I will arrive home on Monday, very late and, most likely, exhausted. Then I will have to spend Tuesday explaining how in the world I could have maxed out the credit card. This will take several hours of weeping and throwing myself prostrate on the floor begging forgiveness (NOT) and cooking a special dinner (again, NOT). Then I'll bat my eyelashes, tell him I love him and all will be forgiven. Oh, wait, that's a dream I had last night. Anyway, I'm going away for a few days and Bingo will resume later. Just look at all the time you will have to create cards and how many numbers we could get over the next week. Also while I'm there, I'm going to pick up the prize for this Round of Bingo 'cause I havent' got any idea yet but I'm sure something will come to me at MOA with 520 stores to choose from!

Adios, amigos, I'm off to pack! I'll be back soon and will share my experiences with you in pics and prose.

Just to refresh your minds about all the different ways to get extra numbers for Bingo, here are the sketchs you can use:

As well as these sketches, you can make cards using any design using the SU 2007 In-Colours and any cards using food images. Or, you can make any combination thereof. I'd like to remind you all that these sketches were created by Kerry Urbach and you can check out her blog here. Thanks, Kerry, for letting me use your great sketches.
